What is flex credit?

Each regular CSA share comes with an allotment that members can use at their pleasure on any of the food items and flowers in our farm stand. Flex credit cannot be used on merchandise or beverages.

What items are typically available for me to use my flex credit on?

While our availability changes throughout the season we generally have 30-50 different items available each week. This typically includes different cuts of fresh chicken, a wide variety of cuts of pork, beef & lamb, steelhead trout fillets & lox and mushrooms. We often have a few specialty items available as well, like our famous chicken pot pies, bone broths and other rotating surprises. Members may also use their flex credit on extra produce, when it’s available.

How much flex credit do I have to start?

The starting credit depends on the length of the share you signed up for and can be calculated at $25 x the number of weeks in each share.  So:

  • 3-SEASON FULL SHARE MEMBERS BEGIN THE SEASON WITH A $850 CREDIT.

  • 3-SEASON HALF SHARE MEMBERS BEGIN THE SEASON WITH A $425 CREDIT.

  • SUMMER FULL SHARE MEMBERS BEGIN THE SEASON WITH A $500 CREDIT.

  • SUMMER HALF SHARE MEMBERS BEGIN THE SEASON WITH A $250 CREDIT.

How do I use my credit?

When you arrive at the farm stand during CSA pickup hours, simply select whatever items you’d like from the stand and bring them to the farmer on staff. They will record them, and deduct their value from your credit. If you wish to use your credit during our self-serve farm stand hours simply record the items you are taking in the CSA Flex Credit Log at the checkout. Please be sure to follow the self-serve CSA instructions closely because even small errors can be detrimental to the farm and/or other members! Click here to see a sample Flex Credit Log page.

How do I know how much credit I have remaining?

To learn how much credit you have remaining, you can ask the farmer at CSA pickup or email us any time at csa@letterboxfarm.com. Please note, we update our CSA records the Wednesday before pickup every week so if you inquire earlier in the week we may not have any items taken the previous week recorded yet. 

What if I use up all my credit before the end of the season?

If you use up your credit you can purchase more and we will add it to your account or you can purchase items from the store a la carte cash/card or on a tab. If you wish to run a tab, simply continue recording items as usual (by bringing them to the farmer on staff or recording them in the CSA Flex Credit Log) and we will email you an invoice for whatever items you take, for you to pay easily and securely online at your convenience any time within the next 7 days.

What happens if I do not use my flex credit before the end of the season? Can I get a refund or save it for next year?

We cannot issue refunds or save unused credit for future seasons. If you are unable to use your flex credit for any reason, we encourage you to give it to a friend or to use it to purchase items to donate to local food security programs like the Hudson Community Free Fridge, or to the Hudson Youth Center, which prepares meals for dozens of children 5 days a week.
